When I started reading the details, the thought I had was that this reminded me of the Federal raid upon the Branch Davidian compound in the 1990's, which answers question 2 for me. It was a similar raid. as they attempted against Sitting Bull, and it was all because of their belief that each leader was a threat against unity under Washington, DC.
Then we got to see a government effort against organized religion with the WuFlu pandemicon, where the central government attempted to criminalize attendance at churches and other religious buildings and ceremonies. Both of these were extra-governmental threats to religion. And so was the arrest of Sitting Bull.
The primary objective of those in power is often to safeguard their authority. Anything that challenges their control is perceived as a threat.
From a spiritual perspective, malevolent forces within government are merely participants in the timeless struggle between good and evil. They aim to suppress and constrain Christians, recognizing their faith as a direct challenge to their ambitions and agendas.
I was at a small museum in Michigan on Friday, and one of the exhibits was a jacket Sitting Bull owned. He'd worn it when he was with Buffalo Bill, and he later gave it to a friend of his who was an Indian agent.
Unnecessary division among Christians is so sad. As the Bible says, "is Christ divided?" But like you pointed out, there are necessary divisions. It takes wisdom to discern between the two, and I pray God gives me more of that wisdom.
Wow some powerful scripture here that drives Jesus's teachings home. Another example of how the enemy uses division as a tool, and regularly. I've always hated what was done to the Native Americans and when in Mount Rushmore 3 years ago, we also toured the Crazy Horse museum and that trip was where I really realized how much influence the native people had on the development of our country. Going out to Yellowstone is an amazing trip that had us seeing alot of native culture..and we gained much wisdom to appreciate our Native Brethren.
Don’t think that somehow white Americans bear any unique degree of evil because of the historic tragedy imposed on Native American Indians, because when you read about the Russian treatment of Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and related nomadic peoples, they suffered comparably. (At a comparable period of time in history) Then collectivism under the Soviets compounded the starvation, deaths, displacement and social disintegration.
Like Kevin, this article immediately reminded me of the murders committed in 1991 by the AFT. This, of course, led directly to more killing at Ruby Ridge and Timothy McVeigh's likely radicalization and bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in 1995. There will always be unintended consequences when the government chooses to murder its enemies. Time will tell whether the MAGA movement turns into a revolution or if it will wither and die like the Ghost Dance believers.
The success of MAGA as a political movement will likely be determined by whether Trump and the new leadership effects real change to address the broken and unconstitutional systems or if they simply enact temporary measures that are easily undone by a future administrations.

Yes, the physical conflict we see reflects a greater spiritual battle
Powerful, accurate comparisons
Just ask, why defending the branch davidians?

It's true that we've seen similar stories played out all over the world throughout history.
Just finished re-reading Little Big Man. An epic retelling of that era, so much better than the movie.
