It is nice to read that a king did the best for his people.

I erred in my recent post, I was referring to a same-named leader in 1453, when Constantinople fell as a Christian beacon in the East.

Unfortunately, most of what Western historians tell us about the Arab Muslim conquest and oppressive reign is intended to mislead us. Much is outright lies. If you want to be shocked by the truth I urge you to read In God's Path: The Arab Conquests and the Creation of an Islamic Empire by Robert G. Hoyland.

And thank God for the brave Christians who halted the Muslim conquest and enslavement of Europe. The leftists want decolonization? Free Constantinople, the first Christian city in the world, not now still enslaved by Muslims.

Another excellent devotional!

Yesterday at church, our Bible class discussed Deuteronomy 4. It struck me that in explaining how the nation could find greatness in the Promised Land, God stressed not having a powerful king or leader (i.e., you don't need Moses), not devastating military dominance (i.e., you don't need an Assyrian army), but rather adherence to His torah (see esp. vss. 5 and 6).

There is a beautiful story of his display of Grace that he displayed after entering Constantinople after two Christians were brought before him by Ottomans who reported that the Christians fought valiantly & killed many of his Ottoman warriors. The Islamic leader ordered that the Christians be released & permitted free passage. That’s Grace, though both sides had fought viciously, with no humanity.
