One of my dad’s favorite shows! I can still see him sitting in his favorite chair enjoying it. He also liked other westerns like “Big Valley” and “The Rifleman.” (I miss that sight of him.) 🙏🏾❤️

How wonderful that we serve the God of second chances (and more)! I have a particular person in my life who is very difficult for me to have to be around, and yet I must do. I've been struggling the past few days and today in particular with this relationship, and as the Lord has lovingly been hammering me about His grace to me, I'm reminded by your words that I can and must extend the same to this person. Lord, I give it all to You, I'm not in control, You are. Thank you for your grace to me, and empower me by your Spirit to do the same for others.

Gunsmoke was TV worth watching as opposed to today's offerings which are 90% garbage.

I actually still prefer the radio program, allowing my mind to draw out the visuals. Conrad's voice was excellent.

As to the reflection, when you think of second chances, I think a lot of Judges touches on this.

Also, I like the “Did You Know?” bonus! Have been considering becoming a paid subscriber, but I need to check the finances. 😉

I completely understand, trust me! I am committed to providing the bulk of the newsletter for free. However, as I get more people who are blessing me with paid subscriptions I feel the need to develop something tangible to provide them as a thank you for their support. I feel like bonus content might be the most straightforward solution that I could implement quickly.

I remember a major change from radio Gunsmoke to TV: In the ubiquitous quickdraw showdown on radio the bad guy was dead. On TV, the Marshal shot the gun from his hand so he got his day in court.

Growing up we didn't watch a lot of television, but Gunsmoke was a regular because my parents like the show. We didn't have a color tv so seeing things in color didn't happen till later. You mentioned that they talked about canceling Gunsmoke earlier. It would have taken phone calls and letters from fans to keep it on and not a quick e-mail.

My father-in-law still watches Gunsmoke every day. He's probably seen every episode a dozen times. But, yeah, you're right. People would have had to make a real effort to let the network know their displeasure.
