Slapstick, physical comedy was standard in my family. We learned to overrule the autonomous nervous system in keeping straight faces while making others laugh. My favorite gag was falling down with my face in a chocolate cake. In my late 60s my wife asked me to drop that from my routine (as a pastor). I never saw an actual "slap stick" but I think William Blake put one in one of his angel paintings.

Ha! That's a lot of cake. I don't know though. I feel like watching your pastor fall into a cake would be very entertaining. Lol.
I love slap stick comedy. I used to do community theater and did a lot of it. Buster Keaton was a master.
